Privacy Policy

SOP Chef (“we”, “our”, “the site”) provides free restaurant SOP templates, guides, and educational content. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what we do not do with it.

What we collect

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site. When you visit, Google Analytics may collect:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• Referring website or search query that brought you here
• Browser type, operating system, and screen size
• Approximate geographic location (country/region, not precise)
• IP address (processed by Google according to its retention settings)

This data is aggregated and used to understand traffic patterns and improve the site. We do not use it to identify you personally.

Google’s privacy policy governs how Google handles this data: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Analytics scripts are loaded through Partytown so they run in a web worker and are less likely to block page rendering.

Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with pages, for example, which sections get attention and where people get stuck. Clarity may collect:

• Page views, clicks, scrolls, and session recordings (masked where configured)
• Device type, browser, screen size, and approximate geography
• Referring URL

Clarity data is used only to improve site usability and content. Microsoft’s privacy statement applies: privacy.microsoft.com.

Clarity is also loaded through Partytown when enabled in production.

Google Search Console

We use Google Search Console to monitor search performance (queries, click-through rates, indexing status). This is passive: it does not collect data directly from your browser session.

What we do not collect

• Template checklist inputs are not sent to our servers. Interactive checklists and PDF customization run in your browser.
• We do not require accounts, logins, or email addresses to browse templates.
• We do not run display ads or sell data to advertising networks.
• We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties.

Local storage

If enabled, template customizations may be saved in your browser’s localStorage under keys like sopchef:customize:{slug}:{locale}. This data never leaves your device unless you export or share a PDF yourself.

Cookies

The site may use:

• Analytics cookies: set by Google Analytics (e.g. _ga, _gid) to distinguish visitors and sessions.
• Clarity cookies: set by Microsoft Clarity to associate session data with a browser.
• Optional customization storage, not a cookie, but browser localStorage for saved template edits when that feature is turned on.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in settings. Blocking analytics cookies will not prevent you from browsing or downloading templates.

Third-party links

Blog posts, guides, and templates may link to external sites (FDA, health departments, industry associations). We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Children

SOP Chef is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
